This low-lying platform bed - which includes the platform frame, a slat support system, a wood headboard, an upholstered headboard, and two nightstand boxes - starts with durable walnut veneers, hand-selected and matched by color and wood grain to create a seamless, consistent look. Veneers are stronger and more durable than solid wood as they resist shrinking, swelling, warping and cracking. They're finished here in a warm, rustic Aged Timber, which enhances the natural beauty - and natural imperfections - of the wood veneers. The entire piece is manufactured in an environmentally friendly process, so you won't have to worry about waste before it arrives at your door.
The sleek, low platform can be outfitted with the included three-slat support system with adjustable levelers so you can properly set up your mattress. Above, the striking panel headboard boasts two wood-framed walnut veneer panels with grommet holes. An included secondary upholstered headboard attaches to the main panel headboard. The cream-colored, natural-fiber fabric is stitched and tufted for a clean, classic look. The bed frame itself utilizes engineered, multi-ply hardwood with 5/4 mixed hardwoods to achieve the unique frame contours. The artisan-assembled upholstered piece features sturdy mortise and tendon joints, as well as corners reinforced with corner blocks and braces. Every frame is pre-tested for strength and durability.
And for a truly complete unit, two included nightstand boxes attach to the panel headboard's left and right sides. Each nightstand box has a simple clear glass top panel, as well as a hinged back wood panel that opens to a storage receptacle. Below, an open space and storage drawer in each nightstand ensure you have everything you need for a good night's sleep at arm's length. The drawers feature custom-designed brass hardware, as well as wood sides and backs with veneer bottoms - they're durable and less likely to warp over time and in humidity changes. Each drawer bottom is stained and sealed to protect materials placed inside. Dovetail construction creates smooth edges, and stop blocks are nailed and glued behind each drawer to ensure the drawer stops solidly and in the proper position.
